English Translation

Klontein bled from the neck and down her outfit, her upper chest crushed. Many claimed to have seen her shiver, but the fact is they perceived their own hearts (shivering). If her eyes caught sight of her taker, they did not pursue, but chose to stay frozen, staring at the sky. Malicious rumor has always had it that it was a case of filicide, but there were enough sixth graders unaccounted for by that sorrowful year that this was merely speculation. And one hopes that the speculation had no truth to it, but the clouds gathered more and more after that day. Klontein was 162 years old.

GRAMMAR NOTES

True Adjectives

The number of underived adjectives in Horgothic is limited to 729 color words, all of which end in -k like pik (blue), as well as four "superlatives" and three "life" words. The superlatives form nouns by the addition of -er, while the "life" adjectives have corresponding nouns which, despite similarities, are considered by grammarians to be morphologically unrelated.

he and ha, nu and la

he and ha both can be translated as "and," but he pairs nouns together whereas ha pairs clauses together.

nu can most often be translated as "of" (genitive function, general pertaining etc.). la can translate "of" in the phrase "A of B" when A acts transitively upon B. Thus: "dreamer of dreams" = fedimir la fedimans. nu can always replace la and in informal conversation the latter might rarely if ever be employed by most Incudean speakers.
